TPE Alta Luna LLC on Oct. 31 asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to accept its market-based rate tariff effective Jan. 3, 2017.
TPE Alta Luna is developing, owns, and expects to operate the Alta Luna Solar Project, an approximately 25 MW (ac) (nameplate) solar facility located in Luna County, New Mexico. It also owns certain facilities necessary to interconnect the facility to the distribution system owned by Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association within the Public Service Co. of New Mexico balancing authority area (PNM BAA).
The project developer said it expects to energize the facility on Jan. 3, 2017, and to place it into commercial operation during the first quarter of 2017. It plans to file with the commission a self-certification of the facility as a qualifying small power production facility (QF) under the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978.
TPE Alta Luna is committed to sell the full output of the facility under a long-term power purchase agreement with Tri-State expiring in 2042.
The project company is a direct and wholly owned subsidiary of DESRI Alta Luna Holdings LLC. The companies are part of D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments LLC (DESRI), which is part of D. E. Shaw & Co. LP.
