Sub-$1 natural gas found in a couple of Eastern regions

Spot natural gas prices for delivery Sept. 19 were less than $1/mmBtu in the Mid-Atlantic and New York City, according to figures from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

EIA reported that the latest spot gas price for the Mid-Atlantic was only 93 cents/mmBtu and the spot gas price for New York City was only 94 cents/mmBtu.

In both cases, the spot natural gas price reflected a decrease of more than 21% from the spot gas price recorded on the prior business day. In fact, all 10 of the organized regions tracked by EIA showed a price decrease for Sept. 19.

Meanwhile, the NYMEX/Henry Hub price futures price for October delivery of natural gas was listed at $2.95/mmBtu.
