Strata Solar wins North Carolina nod on 5-MW Aberdeen Farm project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Sept. 27 approved a July 27 application from the Aberdeen Farm LLC affiliate of Strata Solar LLC for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility.

The Aberdeen Farm facility would be located on the east side of Aberdeen Road, north of the intersection with Plant Road, and north of the train tracks, in the Township of Laurel Hill, Scotland County, N.C. The facility is projected to come on-line in July 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement.

The service life of the equipment is expected to be a minimum of twenty years. The projected annual sales of the $14 million facility are 9,000,000 kWh.
