NARENCO wins okay for 5-MW River Otter Solar project in North Carolina

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Sept. 27 approved a July 27 application from River Otter Solar LLC for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located on Union Church Road in Carthage, Moore County, North Carolina.

The facility is projected to come on-line in December 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress as a qualifying facility under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The service life of the equipment is expected to be a minimum of twenty years. The projected annual sales of the facility are estimated to be 10,675,000 kWh in the first full year of production. The project cost is $14 million.
