The Midcontinent Independent System Operator filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Sept. 2 an Agreement for Preliminary Engineering Design, Permitting and Procurement of Material with MidAmerican Energy as both the interconnecting transmission owner and the developer of a 340-MW wind project in Iowa.
MISO has designated this as Project No. J498 in its interconnection queue.
This wind farm will be located in Boone and Greene counties, Iowa, and will consist of 170 wind turbines rated at approximately 2 MW each with a total output of 340 MW (net) of Energy Resource Interconnection Service and/or Network Resource Interconnection Service.
MidAmerican as transmission owner agreed to use reasonable efforts to complete the work to support the following interconnection schedule:
- Sept. 4, 2017 – Transmission Owner Network Upgrades and Interconnection Facilities In-Service Date (“Backfeed Date”);
- Sept. 4, 2017 – Generating Facility Testing Date; and
- Dec. 15, 2017 – Generating Facility Commercial Operation Date.
This facility is currently expected to interconnect with the 345 kV transmission system owned by MidAmerican and operated by MISO in accordance with the MISO Open Access Transmission, Energy and Operating Reserve Markets Tariff.
