Iowa Biogas seeks renewable energy credits for 7.5-MW project

Iowa Biogas Inc., for itself and on behalf of the other members of a joint venture (Iowa Biogas LLC 1 and Iowa Biogas LLC 2), on Sept. 28 applied at the Iowa Utilities Board for a written determination of eligibility for 7.5 MW of renewable energy tax credits.

The total nameplate generating capacity rating of their methane-fired facility will be 7.5 MW, with an energy production capacity equivalent (of methane) of 25MMBtu/hr. The facility will be located in Johnson County, Iowa. The backers anticipate that the facility will be placed into service on or about Dec. 31, 2017.

A power purchase agreement has not yet been finalized and executed, Iowa Biogas noted.
