The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is hosting seminars Sept. 20-21 in North Carolina to offer additional details on an upcoming proposed sale notice (PSN) and request for interest (RFI) for 122,405 acres offshore North Carolina.
The proposed sale and RFI were announced by federal officials on Aug. 12.
The PSN and RFI requests the following: (1) any prospective bidders already qualified for commercial wind energy development offshore North Carolina affirm their continued interest; (2) any prospective bidders that have not been qualified by BOEM submit the required qualification materials; and (3) public comments on BOEM’s proposal to auction a lease area offshore North Carolina for potential commercial wind energy development.
The comment period closes on Oct. 17. Comments received or postmarked by then will be made available to the public and considered before the publication of the Final Sale Notice, which will announce the time and date of the lease sale.
On Sept. 20, BOEM will host a public auction seminar in Raleigh, North Carolina to describe the auction format, explain the auction rules, and demonstrate the auction process through meaningful examples.
On Sept. 21, a similar BOEM meeting will be held in Nags Head, North Carolina.
