
The Truman Farm LLC affiliate of Strata Solar LLC on Aug. 2 applied to the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located in Johnston County.
The facility site is located east of Applewhite Road (also known as State Road 1720), northwest of the intersection with Covered Bridge Road (also known as State Road 1700), and north of Williamson Lane, in the Township of Wilders, Johnston County.
The facility is projected to come on-line in September 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The service life of the equipment is expected to be a minimum of twenty years. The projected annual sales of the $14 million facility are 9,000,000 kWh.

Strata Solar’s River Forks Farm LLC filed a similar Aug. 2 application with the North Carolina commission for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located on the north side of Clyde Rhyne Drive, east of the intersection with Womack Road, and at the end of Wendy Lane, in Sanford, Lee County. This $14 million facility is projected to come on-line in September 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
