
The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Aug. 22 approved a June 20 application from the Cookstown Solar LLC affiliate of Strata Solar LLC for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) facility.
The project site is located on the south side of Stoney Creek Church Road, east of the intersection with U.S. Route 117, and west of North Carolina Highway 111, near Goldsboro in Wayne County. The $14 million facility is projected to come online in June 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15 year power purchase agreement.
