North Carolina commission okays 5-MW Ebenezer Church Solar project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Aug. 2 approved a June 8 application from the Ebenezer Church Solar LLC affiliate of Headwaters Solar for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility.

This project is to be located off Ebenezer Church Road, approximately 0.7 miles north of the intersection of Ebenezer Church Road and U. S. Highway 21 Bypass, State Road, Surry County, North Carolina. The applicant will sell the electricity to Duke Energy Carolinas.

The $7.8 million project is expected to go on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017.
