North Carolina commission okays 5-MW Chester Lane Solar project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Aug. 10 approved a June 3 application from the Chester Lane Solar LLC affiliate of Carolina Solar Energy II LLC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity covering construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located at 193 Chester Lane, Coats, Harnett County, North Carolina.

The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Progress under a 15 year fixed price Renewable Power Purchase Agreement (RPPA).

The $8 million facility is projected to come on-line around July 31, 2018. The projected annual sales in kilowatt-hours is 8,000,000.
