IMG working new gas-fired project in Pennsylvania through PJM

IMG Development LLC has proposed a natural gas-fired facility located in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, that would have a total capability of 19.9 MW with 19.9 MW of this output being recognized by PJM Interconnection as capacity.

PJM said in an August 2016 study on the project that the proposed in-service date is June 1, 2018. This study does not imply a PPL Electric Utilities (PPL EU) commitment to this in-service date. This project, under queue #AB2-012, will interconnect with the PPL EU transmission system from a 69-kV line from the Paupack substation.

The project is located near Skycrest Road in Hawley, Wayne County. In order to interconnect with the PPL EU 138/69-kV transmission system, PPL EU will tap the existing Blooming Grove-West Damascus 138/69-kV line and extend approximately 600 feet northwest before entering IMG’s substation.

The total number of gas-fired units in the project is three, at 6.65 MW each.

The intent of this Combined Feasibility/System Impact Study is to determine a plan, with approximate cost and construction time estimates, to connect the subject generation interconnection project to the PJM network at a location specified by IMG. This study is a mid-point in a queue process that eventually leads to an Interconnection Service Agreement.

IMG in the last few years has been developing a number of gas-fired projects of around this size in Pennsylvania.
