Halifax Solar LLC applied Aug. 4 at the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 5-MW (ac) project to be located 0.3 miles southwest of the intersection of Dog Pound Rd and Hwy 903, which is approximately 2.1 miles northwest of the city of Halifax in Halifax County, N.C.
The facility will consist of approximately 22,000 315Wp DC photovoltaic modules (or the equivalent) affixed to ground-mounted racks, which will be supported by piles driven into the ground. The system will utilize three 1.66 MW AC inverters (or the equivalent).
The projected date for the facility to come on-line is in November 2017. Electricity is to be sold to Dominion North Carolina Power under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The projected annual sales are 9,000,000 kWh. The projected cost of the facility is $14 million.
