FLS Energy gets North Carolina approvals for four solar projects

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Aug. 16 approved a June 8 application from Ellisboro Solar LLC, an affiliate of FLS Energy, for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 4.999-MW (sc) solar facility.

It would be located off Sardis Church Road, approximately 0.75 miles west of the intersection of Ellisboro Road and Sardis Church Road, Madison, Rockingham County. The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Carolinas.

The projected date for the facility to come on-line is Sept. 1, 2017. The projected annual sales are 9,800,000 AC kWh.

  • The commission on Aug. 16 also approved a Feb. 27 application from the Henry Gibson Solar LLC affiliate of FLS Energy for a certificate on a 4.99-MW (ac) solar facility to be located at 8081 Henry Gibson Road, Gibson, Scotland County. The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Progress. The projected on-line date in the application was May 31, 2016. The projected annual sales are 9,203,840 AC kWh.
  • Another Aug. 16 approval came on a March 22 application from the Cell Tower Solar LLC affiliate of FLS Energy for a certificate on a 4.999-MW (ac) photovoltaic facility to be located at 702 NW Backwoods Road, Moyock, Currituck County. The applicant plans to sell the electricity generated to Dominion North Carolina Power. The projected date for the facility to come on-line is March 18, 2017. The projected annual sales are 9,800,000 AC kWh.
  • There was an Aug. 16 commission approval of a March 23 application from FLS Energy affiliate Summerset Farms Solar LLC for a certificate on a 3.332-MW (ac) solar facility to be located at 412 NC Highway 32 N, Roper, Washington County. The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Dominion North Carolina Power. The projected date for the facility to come on-line is March 18, 2017. The projected annual sales are 6,159,759 AC kWh.
