Approvals sought in North Carolina for several 5-MW solar projects

Suncaster LLC on Aug. 1 applied with the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a 5-MW (ac) solar project located at 345 Big Daddy’s Road, Pikeville, Wayne County, N.C.

Sept. 1, 2017, is the on-line target date for the project. The applicant’s general plan is to sell the output to Duke Energy Progress. The service life of the project’s equipment is 40 years. The projected annual sales in kilowatt-hours is 9,750,000. The expected project cost is $7.8 million.

  • CL Solar LLC, with the same contact information, applied Aug. 1 at the commission for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) project that will be located at approximately 7131 US 70E, at LaGrange in Lenoir County, N.C., just west of Foss’s Auto Salvage Yard. This $7.8 million facility is due on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017. It would sell power to Duke Energy Progress.
  • Ennis Solar LLC, with again the same contact information, applied Aug. 1 for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) project due to come on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017, and to sell output to Duke Energy Progress. This $7.8 million project would be located at 600 Sheriff Johnson Rd (SR 1516), Lillington, Harnett County, N.C.
  • Brewington Solar LLC, with the same contact information, applied Aug. 1 for a certificate on a $7.8 million, 5-MW (ac) facility that will be located at 3411 Sids Mill Road, Fayetteville, Cumberland County, N.C. This also has a Sept. 1, 2017, on-line target date and would sell power to Duke Energy Progress.
  • Sykes Solar LLC, also with the same contact information, applied Aug. 1 for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) facility that will be located at 3140 Beard Road, Eastover, Harnett County, N.C. This $7.8 million facility is due on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017, and would sell its output to Duke Energy Progress.
  • C&C Solar LLC, with the same contact information, applied Aug. 1 for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) facility that will be located at 10985 Keener Road, Faison, Sampson County, N.C. This $7.8 million facility is due on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017, and would sell its output to Duke Energy Progress.
  • Solar Lee LLC, with the same contact information, applied Aug. 1 for a certificate on a 5-MW (ac) facility that will be located at 311 Lees Country Club Road in Mount Olive, Wayne County, N.C. This $7.8 million facility is due on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017, and would sell its output to Duke Energy Progress.
