Shawboro East Ridge Solar LLC has proposed an 80-MW (ac) solar generating facility located at East Ridge Road in Shawboro, North Carolina, said a Facility Study Report on the project dated July 2016 from PJM Interconnection.
The installed facilities will have a total capability of 80 MW with 56 MW of this output being recognized by PJM as capacity. The proposed in-service date for this project is Dec. 31, 2017. This study does not imply an interconnecting transmission owner Virginia Electric and Power d/b/a Dominion North Carolina Power commitment to this in-service date.
This project, under PJM queue #AA1-049/#AA1-132 will interconnect with the transmission system via a new “Currituck” three breaker ring bus switching station that connects on the Shawboro–Sligo 230 kV line.
Amendments to the System Impact Study data or System Impact Study Results Stability and Reactive Power Requirements were analyzed as part of the Facilities Study. All fault contingencies tested on the 2018 summer peak case met the recovery criteria. No mitigations were found to be required.
The generating facility will be comprised of 108 solar arrays. The solar arrays will be connected to 54 x 1.5 MW PowerOne Ultra 1500-TL-OUTD solar inverters.
This study is a mid-point in a PJM queue process that leads to an Interconnection Service Agreement.
Shawboro East Ridge Solar applied in September 2015 to the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of this project. Shawboro told the North Carolina commission that it was in discussions to sell the output through a negotiated Power Purchase Agreement to Dominion North Carolina Power or to one or more retail customers in deregulated states that allow for such sales, or to sell the output in the PJM market.
