South Carolina Electric seeks okay of power deal with 10-MW solar project

South Carolina Electric & Gas applied July 18 at the South Carolina Public Service Commission for approval of a proposed power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ridgeland Solar Farm I LLC, which is developing a 10-MW (ac) project in Jasper County, S.C.

The utility wants this PPA accepted under the terms of the Public Utility Regulatory Policy Act of 1978. It will be a qualifying facility (QF) under Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rules.

The PPA, which is attached to the application and largely redacted, was signed by Timothy Daniels as a principal of Ridgeland Solar Farm I.

On July 26, the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff filed a letter in this docket offering no objections to the application.
