Headwaters Solar seeks uprate for Matthews Solar Farm project in North Carolina

Headwaters Solar on June 23 filed a request with the North Carolina Utilities Commission for an increase in capacity for the Matthews Solar Farm project of its Matthews Solar Farm LLC affiliate.

The change requires a new Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for the project, now sized at 5-MW (ac). The $7.8 million project is to come on-line as of Sept. 1, 2017, with all power sold to Duke Energy Carolinas.

The facility location is off of NC 67, approximately 0.24 miles east of the intersection of Mill Hill Road and NC 67, in East Bend, Yadkin County, North Carolina. The company noted that it is submitting an interconnection request for this project to Duke Energy Carolinas.
