Pennsylvania DEP reviews another extension for Hickory Run project

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said in a notice in the May 7 Pennsylvania Bulletin that it intends to approve a second 18-month deadline extension for the 900-MW Hickory Run Energy LLC project.

Hickory Run Energy has asked for a second 18-month extension of time for commencement of construction under an air permit issued on April 23, 2013, for a project in North Beaver Township, Lawrence County. The old deadline under the first 18-month extension was April 23, 2016.

The permit issued in April 2013 covers a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle, 900-MW facility that includes two combustion turbine generators and two heat recovery steam generators.

Hickory Run Energy is an affiliate of LS Power, which on its website shows this project as being in development.
