North Carolina commission okays Strata Solar’s 5-MW Gladstone Farm project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on May 23 approved a March 22 application from Gladstone Farm LLC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility.

This project is to be located on the east side of Hoffman Road (also known as State Road 1004), north of the intersection with Meredith Lane, West End, Moore County, North Carolina.

The $14 million facility is projected to come online in March 2017. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement, the application said. The service life of the equipment is expected to be a minimum of twenty years. The projected annual sales of the facility are 9,000,000 kWh.
