North Carolina commission okays 5-MW Parkdale Solar project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on May 9 approved a March 2 application from Parkdale Solar LLC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility.

The project site is located off Woodruff Road, approximately 0.17 miles north of the intersection of Woodruff Road and West Main Street, near Boonville in Yadkin County, North Carolina. The applicant plans to sell the electricity generated by this facility to Duke Energy Carolinas.

The projected date for this $13 million facility to come on line is Sept. 30, 2016. The projected annual sales are 9,127,954 kilowatt-hours. The project company is an affiliate of 02 emc LLC.
