The North Carolina Utilities Commission on April 18 approved several changes, including a downsizing, for the Sunflower Solar LLC project.
In March 2015, Sunflower Solar filed an application seeking a certificate of public convenience and necessity for construction of a 20-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility to be located off Highway 301 in an unincorporated area about two miles south of Weldon, Halifax County, North Carolina. Contemporaneously with the application, it filed a registration statement for a new renewable energy facility.
In August 2015, the commission issued a recommended order granting the certificate to the applicant, which became final and effective in September 2015.
On Feb. 11 of this year, Sunflower Solar filed an amended application stating that it has made several changes to its plans. The changes include adding additional land to the construction site and reducing the capacity of the facility from 20 MW (ac) to 16 MW (ac). In addition, the Applicant stated that the E911 address for the facility is 2439 and 3240 Highway 301 in an unincorporated area approximately two miles south of Weldon, Halifax County.
Another change was in the contact information for the project, from development company Geenex to: David Sanders, Manager, Sunflower Solar LLC, c/o BayWa r.e. Development LLC, 17901 Von Karman Ave, Suite #1050, Irvine, CA 92614, firstname.lastname@example.org, Phone: (720) 474-4851.
