IPL confirms that contractor died at Eagle Valley power plant construction site

AES (NYSE:AES) utility Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) confirmed March 2 that there was a contractor fatality at the construction site of the new Eagle Valley combined-cycle natural gas plant near Martinsville in Morgan County, Indiana.

“No further details are available at this time,” IPL said on its website. “Safety remains IPL’s top priority, and we will continue working with emergency personnel to confirm details regarding the incident.”

The Indianapolis Star reported online that the fatal accident occurred on the job early Wednesday morning, March 2.

IPL has been in the process of retiring 341 MW of coal generation at the Eagle Valley generation station and developing more than 600 MW of new gas-fired generation at the property.
