Iberdrola currently has 125 construction workers on-site at N.C. wind project

An Iberdrola Renewables spokesperson said March 17 that good progress is being made on construction of the 208-MW wind project being built for an affiliate of Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) in North Carolina.

The spokesperson said that the Amazon Wind project is still on track for commercial operation by the end of the year. The company currently has about 125 workers on-site currently involved in construction.

When completed, the Amazon project is expected to be the first utility-scale wind generating facility in North Carolina.

The companies announced the Amazon Wind Farm U.S. East project last year for construction in Belvidere, which is near Elizabeth City in eastern North Carolina.

According to Wikipedia, Belvidere was long-time home to the late radio personality, Robert Weston Smith, best known by his on-air name of ‘Wolfman Jack.’
