Southern Power works out interconnect for 100-MW solar project in Georgia

Southern Company Services, on behalf of the regulated electric utilities of Southern Co. (NYSE: SO), on Feb. 18 filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an executed Large Generator Interconnection Agreement with Southern Power, another Southern Co. subsidiary, for the 100-MW Taylor County Solar Facility II project.

In February 2015, Southern Power submitted this request to interconnect a solar photovoltaic (PV), inverter-based generator array. This solar facility is to be located in Taylor County, Georgia, and would have a nominal net capacity of 100 MW at the Point of Interconnection.

The project’s targeted commercial operation date is Oct. 31, 2017.
