IMG advancing another 19.9-MW, gas-fired project through the PJM system

IMG Development LLC has proposed a natural gas-fueled reciprocating engine generating facility located in Herrick Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, said a study on the project from PJM Interconnection dated February 2016.

The installed facilities will have a total capability of 19.9 MW with 19.9 MW of this output being recognized by PJM as capacity. The proposed in-service date for this project is Dec. 1, 2017. This study does not imply a commitment by PPL Electric Utilities, the interconnecting transmission owner, to this in-service date, the study added.

This project, under PJM queue #AB1-084, will interconnect with the PPL EU transmission system into the Elk Mountain Tap 138/69k line at a new tap structure located approximately 0.55 miles from the Tinker 69/12kV substation and approximately 1.75 miles from the Elk Mountain 69/12kV substation.

The turbines will be modeled as one 19.9-MW generator with all 19.9 MW being injected into the Elk Mountain Tap 138/69kV line. The project is made up of three turbines at 6.65 MW apiece.

The intent of this Combined Feasibility/System Impact Study is to determine a plan, with approximate cost and construction time estimates, to connect the subject generation interconnection project to the PJM network at a location specified by the power project developer. It is an interim step to an eventual Interconnection Service Agreement.

Along those lines, PJM on Jan. 20 filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an executed Interconnection Service Agreement with IMG Development and interconnecting transmission owner Pennsylvania Electric for a 19.9-MW, gas-fired project. The IMG ISA facilitates the interconnection to the PJM system of the Glory Barn Road Generating Facility Alpaca, located in Canton Township, Pa. The project consists of five 4-MW reciprocating engines connected to a common bus. This project, under PJM queue position #Z2-011, is due for commercial operation on or before June 30, 2017.

A project contact listed in the ISA is: Mark Brozina, IMG Development LLC, 301 Oxford Valley Road, Suite 1603-A, Yardley, PA 19067.
