PJM files interconnect deal for 300-MW Timbermill Wind project in North Carolina

PJM Interconnection on Jan. 4 filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an executed Interconnection Service Agreement with Timbermill Wind LLC and interconnecting transmission owner Virginia Electric and Power for a 300-MW wind project in North Carolina.

The Timbermill ISA facilitates the interconnection to the PJM transmission system of the Timbermill Wind Farm, to be located in Perquimans County, N.C. This facility will have a Maximum Facility Output of 300.3 MW. The Timbermill ISA further indicates that Timbermill shall have Capacity Interconnection Rights in the amount of 39 MW.

Under the ISA, on or before Oct. 31, 2017, Timbermill Wind must demonstrate commercial operation of 80 generating units, and on or before Dec. 31, 2017, it must demonstrate commercial operation of 11 additional generating units.

The project site is located approximately seven miles SSW of Winfall, N.C. The wind farm will consist of 91 Vestas V112-3.3-MW wind turbine generators.
