While spot natural gas prices have rallied somewhat in the past couple of months, they still are well below the level of mid-January 2016, according to Energy Information Administration (EIA) data.
New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) futures price for February delivery of natural gas was listed at $2.14/mmBtu on Jan. 15. That price is down $1.09/mmBtu from the level recorded one year earlier, according to the EIA website.
In addition the EIA website reports that natural gas inventories stood at 3,475 Bcf for Jan. 8. That’s an increase of 587 Bcf from year earlier.
