North Carolina commission okays 50-MW solar project of Cypress Creek Renewables

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Dec. 1 approved a March 2 application from the Buckleberry Solar LLC affiliate of Cypress Creek Renewables for a certificate of public convenience and necessity on a 50-MW (ac) solar facility to be located on Brown Hodges Road, west of the intersection with Jack Quinerly Road, Grifton, Pitt County, North Carolina.

The applicant plans to sell the electricity to the Duke Energy Progress unit of Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK).

The $107-million facility is projected to come online by the end of 2016. The service life of the equipment is expected to be a minimum of twenty-five years. The projected annual sales of the facility are 105,255,815 kWh.
