Bui-Thompson elected SMUD board president

SMUD Director Nancy Bui-Thompson was elected president of the SMUD Board of Directors. Her term as president will run from January through December 2016. Bui-Thompson served as the Board president in 2012 and served as vice president in 2011 and 2015. She was elected to the SMUD Board of Directors in November 2008 to represent Ward 2, which includes the communities of Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Gold River, Rancho Murieta, Galt, Wilton and a part of Elk Grove.

Bui-Thompson is a currently a Director – Technology Consulting at Public Consulting Group (PCG). Prior to PCG, she was a Consultant at Accenture and a Senior Consultant at Deloitte. She is a technology and management professional who has worked with state and local government agencies as well as large energy and health-care organizations. She has served as a consultant to executive-level management for many large employers, bringing efficiency and project management to their organizations.

Bui-Thompson is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, with a bachelor of science in economics and management information systems.

As the nation’s sixth-largest community-owned electric service provider, SMUD has been providing low-cost, reliable electricity for more than 65 years to Sacramento County (and small adjoining portions of Placer and Yolo Counties).
