Basin Electric Power Cooperative re-elects officers for 2016

Officers are nominated and elected for one-year terms by the directors

The directors of Basin Electric and its subsidiaries elected board officers at their reorganization meetings held in December. Officers are nominated and elected for one-year terms by the directors.

For Basin Electric, Wayne Peltier, Cottonwood, MN, was re-elected president. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 2008, representing District 9.

Kermit Pearson, Lake City, SD, was re-elected vice president. He’s been a director since 1997 and represents the cooperative members of East River Electric Power Cooperative, District 1.

Gary Drost, Luvern, MN, was re-elected secretary-treasurer. He’s been a director since 1999 and represents L&O Power Cooperative, District 2.

Roberta Rohrer, Conrad, MT, was re-elected assistant secretary. She’s been a Basin Electric director since 2004 and represents Central Montana Electric Power Cooperative, District 6.

For Dakota Gasification Company, Don Applegate was re-elected chairman. Applegate is from Oakland, IA, and represents Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative, District 4. He’s been a Basin Electric director since 1997. Charlie Gilbert, Corn Belt Power Cooperative, District 11, was elected vice chairman and Allen Thiessen, Upper Missouri Power Cooperative, District 8, was re-elected treasurer. Gilbert is from Iowa Falls, IA, and has been a Basin Electric director since 2009; Thiessen is from Lambert, MT, and has been a Basin Electric director since 2012.

Rohrer was re-elected chairman of Dakota Coal Company. Paul Baker was elected vice-chairman; Baker is from Moorcroft, WY, and has represented Powder River Energy Corporation, District 10, on the Basin Electric board since 2013. Mike McQuistion was elected treasurer of Dakota Coal; McQuistion is from Ft. Pierre, SD, and has represented Rushmore Electric Cooperative, District 7, on the Basin Electric board since 2013. The officers and directors for Dakota Coal are the same forMontana Limestone Company, a subsidiary of Dakota Coal.

Troy Presser, Central Power Electric Cooperative, District 3, was elected to the Basin Electric board in November 2015. He lives in Turtle Lake, ND. Presser was also named a director for Basin Cooperative Services, Dakota Coal Company, Montana Limestone Company, PrairieWinds ND 1 and PrairieWinds SD 1, all Basin Electric subsidiaries.
