PJM terminates interconnect deal for 20-MW flywheel project in Pennsylvania

PJM Interconnection on Nov. 12 notified the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of the cancellation of an executed Interconnection Service Agreement (ISA) entered into among PJM, Valley View Spindle LLC (VVS) and interconnecting transmission owner PPL Electric Utilities.

“The VVS ISA is being cancelled because VVS has decided not to move forward with its project and will not participate in PJM’s markets,” PJM told the commission. The ISA had been filed with the commission on Feb. 5 of this year.

The agreement had covered the Valley View Flywheel Station, to have been located in Jessup Borough, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The maximum facility output was to be 20 MW. It would have consisted of flywheels connected through 110-kW inverters. It had been due for commercial operation by the end of 2016.

The company contact information is: Valley View Spindle LLC, 65 Middlesex Road, Tyngsboro, MA 01879.
