Heavy rain possible in portions of the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic

Rain will expand into the central Appalachians and much of the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday as a storm system develops near the coast of the Carolinas, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are forecast from eastern portions of the Florida Panhandle northward along the Southeast U.S. coastline to the southern Mid-Atlantic. Flash flooding will be possible in some of these areas.
