An official with Strategen, a firm deeply involved in clean power and energy storage, will speak at the PennWell GenForum Dec.7 in Las Vegas.
Lon Huber is a director in California-based Strategen’s government and utility practice. Strategen is affiliated with the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA). He specializes in rate design strategies for distributed resources, renewable energy and energy storage implementation approaches, as well as cost-benefit analyses.
Huber will be part of a panel discussion on a “Greener, Smarter and more Future for the Electricity Sector.” Another confirmed member of the panel is NV Energy Renewable Energy Programs Director Jesse Murray.
Prior to joining Strategen, Huber worked for the ratepayer advocate office in Arizona where he was the staff lead on key issues facing the electric utilities in the state. In this position he shaped high profile decisions around net metering, resource procurement, and utility owned distributed generation.
Huber got his start in the policy field at a University of Arizona-based energy research institute. Subsequently, he worked in the private sector for several years in positions related to energy policy and economic development. His experience spans leading project finance for a solar integrator to managing regional policy efforts for a large solar panel manufacturer.
Huber earned a bachelor of science degree in public policy and management and a master’s of business administration from the University of Arizona.
GenForum is a one-day conference, organized by GenerationHub, which will explore how the power sector is coping with changing dynamics such as renewable energy standards and the EPA Clean Power Plan. GenForum is one of the co-located events for PennWell’s POWER-GEN International. Both events are being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Other speakers already on the program for the event include Department of Energy Loan Programs Office (LPO) Director Mark McCall; ScottMadden Management Consultants Partner Todd Williams; Peabody Energy Global Energy Analytics Vice President Jacob Williams; Siemens Industry Marketing Manager/Oil & Gas Michael Welch; and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Regulatory Analyst Stephen St Marie.
