Utah Red Hills seeks EWG status for nearly 79-MW Utah solar project

Utah Red Hills Renewable Park LLC, which is developing a 78.6 MW (ac) solar project in Utah, on Oct. 29 filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission a notice of self-certification as an exempt wholesale generator.

Utah Red Hills owns this project, currently under construction and located near the town of Parowan, Utah. Utah Red Hills will sell the full electrical output and capacity rights from the facility to PacifiCorp under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) executed pursuant to the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978.

The solar farm is certified as a small power production qualifying facility (QF), and Utah Red Hills is filing a QF self-recertification to reflect the upcoming passive investment by Pelican Solar UT LLC, an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of software company Google Inc. The commission has issued an order granting Utah Red Hills market-based rate authority.
