Utah Associated Municipal Power permits waste-heat recovery operation

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality was taking comment until Oct. 27 on a draft air permit approval for Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS), which requested a a permit for a new waste heat recovery facility to be located next to the Kern River Gas Transmission Co. Veyo Compressor Station (CS).

The waste heat recovery facility will utilize the exhausted heat from the Kern River Veyo CS turbines and generate energy for the electrical grid. The proposed emitting units for the site consist of: fugitive emissions from the Ormat Energy Converter unit; and a diesel-fired emergency generator of 389 horsepower in size.
