AUSTIN, TX, Oct. 23, 2015 — The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) today announced that Chad V. Seely will be the next general counsel for the operator of the electric grid and competitive electric markets serving most of Texas.
“During his decade-long tenure with ERCOT, Chad has proven his depth of understanding and excellent judgment needed to handle the complex legal, policy and regulatory issues that ERCOT must manage to maintain a reliable grid and competitive, efficient market,” said outgoing General Counsel Bill Magness, who will become the new ERCOT CEO on Jan. 1, 2016. “He also brings to the job a deep devotion and dedication to the mission of ERCOT and to the people who make it all work.”
Seely has been with ERCOT since 2005 and has served as ERCOT’s assistant general counsel since February 2011. Prior to joining ERCOT, he worked in the enforcement division of the Texas Department of Insurance and in private practice.
He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 2002 and his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and French from Texas Tech University in 1999.
