NV Energy Director of Renewable Energy Programs Jesse Murray is scheduled to speak at the one-day PennWell GenForum Dec. 7 in Las Vegas.
GenForum is a one-day conference, organized by GenerationHub, which will explore how the power sector is coping with ranging such as the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) and the Clean Power Plan. GenForum is one of the co-located events for PennWell’s POWER-GEN International. Both events are being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Murray will speak as part of a panel discussion on a “greener, smarter and more distributed future” for the electricity sector.
Murray has been with NV Energy since 2008 and has led the company’s renewable energy program since this spring. In addition to renewable energy, Murray also has a background as a power plant engineer. He has previously managed the Tracy and Fort Churchill natural gas generating stations for NV Energy affiliate Sierra Pacific Power in Nevada.
His background gives Murray an understanding of not only the expanding renewable energy sector but also conventional power plants.
Before joining NV Energy, Murray worked for International Game Technology managing real estate transactions on commercial buildings and undeveloped land. He has also worked at Bechtel BWXT at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, where he managed chemically hazardous waste as prescribed by the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
NV Energy is bringing three important solar power projects online in 2015. In August the 19-MW solar field in northern Nevada came on line. It is being operated by NV Energy, and Apple (NASDAQ;AAPL). Later in 2015, the 110-MW Crescent Dunes solar project and 15-MW Nellis Solar Array II projects are scheduled to achieve commercial operation.
NV Energy is part of Berkshire Hathaway Energy and corporate parent Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A, BRK.B). Information on the GenForum agenda can be found at http://www.energyhubforums.com/genforumpgi/conference.html.
