The Executive Director of the Loan Programs Office (LPO) at the Department of Energy (DOE) Mark McCall has agreed to speak at PennWell’s one-day GenForum Dec. 7 in Las Vegas.
The DOE Loan Programs Office is continuing its efforts to finance innovative clean energy technologies. The office recently announced a solicitation for advanced fossil energy projects along with renewable energy and efficiency projects.
McCall is expected to address issues surrounding the DOE loan program during his morning presentation at GenForum.
GenForum is a one-day conference, organized by GenerationHub, which will explore how the power sector is coping with factors such as the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) and the EPA Clean Power Plan. GenForum is one of the co-located events for PennWell’s POWER-GEN International. Both events are being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
McCall was appointed by President Obama in July 2015 to serve as the new executive director of the Loan Programs Office. McCall succeeded Peter Davidson, who had served in the post since May 2013.
Davidson addressed PennWell’s CoalGen in August 2014. Subsequently LPO released a report by the DOE in November 2014 saying that the DOE loan program is doing well even when compared to some private financiers.
In the LPO post, McCall oversees the program’s more than $30bn portfolio of loans and loan guarantees, making it the largest project finance organization in the U.S. government.
McCall brings more than two decades of financial sector experience to the DOE loan program. Prior to leading LPO, McCall spent 17 years as a Managing Director and the CFO for Lime Rock Partners, a private equity firm focused on the energy sector. He also served as Lime Rock’s General Counsel from 1998 to 2010. Before joining Lime Rock Partners, McCall gained diverse experience in international business and finance as a Vice President at Delus Corp., an associate in the mergers and acquisitions group of Lehman Brothers, and as the Director of Operations for E-II Holdings in Moscow.
McCall earned a B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
Peabody Energy (NYSE:BTU) Vice President Global Energy Analytics Jacob Williams and NV Energy Director of Renewable Energy Programs Jesse Murray is scheduled to speak at the one-day GenForum.
