45-MW Sandstone Solar project in Arizona due for test startup in December

Sandstone Solar LLC, which has nearly completed a 45-MW project in Arizona, on Oct. 14 filed a notice of self-certification as an Exempt Wholesale Generator at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Sandstone owns and will operate a 45-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility in the Town of Florence, Arizona. The facility will interconnect with the Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District (SRP) balancing authority area in the Southwest region. The company has an executed power purchase agreement with SRP for all of the facility’s output.

The Sandstone facility is expected to begin generating test energy in December 2015. Applicant’s sole business is owning and operating the facility. Sandstone Solar is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FTP Power LLC.
