FERC accepts interconnects for 35 MW of Duke solar projects in North Carolina

Accepted on Sept. 10 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission was a July 16 filing by PJM Interconnection of two executed Interconnection Service Agreements (ISAs) with Colonial Eagle Solar LLC and transmission owner Virginia Electric and Power.

The first ISA is associated with PJM Queue No. Z2-043/AA1-072 (called the “Kelford Solar ISA”). The second ISA is associated with PJM Queue No. Z2-044 (the “Whitakers Solar ISA”).

In addition, PJM submitted two notices of cancellation of Interim Interconnection Service Agreements for these projects. PJM requested an effective date of June 16, 2015, for the new Colonial ISAs and the associated notices of cancellation.

  • The Kelford Solar ISA facilitates the interconnection to the PJM system of the Kelford Solar Park, located in Kelford, North Carolina. It will have a maximum facility output of 23.1 MW. Kelford is due under this agreement for commercial operation by Dec. 31, 2015.
  • The Whitakers Solar ISA facilitates the interconnection to the PJM system of the Whitakers Solar Park, located in Whitakers, North Carolina. It has a maximum facility output of 12 MW. This project is also due for commercial operation by Dec. 31, 2015.
