
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Sept. 22 accepted the Southwest Power Pool‘s June 17 filing of an unexecuted Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) with Sunwind Energy Group LLLP and transmission owner Westar Energy for a wind project in Kansas.
Sunwind plans to construct a facility that will consist of 118 General Electric 1.7-MW wind turbine generators, for a total capability of 200.6 MW. The Sunwind GIA facilitates the interconnection of the facility to Westar’s transmission system. The project’s Point of interconnection will be at Westar’s new 345-kV substation that will tap the Wichita–Emporia Energy Center 345-kV line.
The wind project’s targeted commercial operation date is Dec. 1, 2016.
