The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) said Sept. 16 that it has selected new leaders for two key areas associated with grid and market operations.
Woody Rickerson, currently director of Grid Coordination, will be vice president of Grid Planning and Operations, and Kenan Ögelman, director of Energy Market Policy for CPS Energy, will be vice president of Commercial Operations.
“These two new executives bring considerable depth in their respective areas to these key roles, and I am confident they will help ERCOT continue its tradition of successful grid and market operations,” said ERCOT CEO Trip Doggett.
Rickerson, an ERCOT employee since 2000, has been involved in developing the tools used to operate the ERCOT grid since initial development of the ERCOT zonal market system in 2000, with a number of increasingly responsible roles prior to his most recent position. A licensed professional engineer, he also has worked for utilities in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.
Ögelman also has been involved in the ERCOT market since it began. He previously chaired ERCOT’s Technical Advisory Committee and served as a senior economist for the Texas Office of Public Utility Counsel, which represents residential electric consumers in Texas. He currently is president of the Gulf Coast Power Association and has taught economics at the University of Texas at Arlington and St. Edwards University.
New York ISO also announced Sept. 16 that ERCOT Chief Operating Officer Brad Jones will become its Chief Executive Officer in October. ERCOT has named Chief of Staff Jeyant Tamby to serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer until his successor is identified. Tamby played a key role in the development of ERCOT’s energy and market systems. He also has a broad range of experience in the electric industry, including system operations, market design and implementation, enterprise architecture, and international development and corporate management.
