Chilean earthquake prompts Tsunami Advisories for Southern California, Hawaii

The M8.3 earthquake off Chile on Wednesday evening has prompted Tsunami Advisories for Southern California, Hawaii and American Samoa, according to the National Weather Service.

No major destructive tsunami is expected; however, these areas are expected to see minor coastal flooding and strong or unusual currents, starting in the early morning on Thursday (all local times). Tsunami waves could last several hours.
