North Carolina approves 50-MW solar project for Cypress Creek

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on June 30 approved a Feb. 23 application from Bladen Solar LLC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity on a 50-MW (ac) solar facility to be located on the west side of Braxton Edge Road, east and west of the intersection with Old Fayetteville Road, and east of Walter West Road near Fayetteville in Bladen County, North Carolina.

The $107 million facility is projected to come online in or before December 2016. Electricity generated by the facility will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a power purchase agreement.

The service life of the equipment is expected to be 25 years. The projected annual sales of the facility are 105,255,815 kWh.
