Tramuto to discuss natural gas pipeline issues at GenForum in Columbus

Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE:SWN) Vice President of Governmental and Regulatory Strategies James Tramuto will discuss natural gas pipeline development issues facing the power industry during the one-day GenForum event Aug. 18 in Columbus, Ohio.

GenForum is organized by PennWell’s GenerationHub. The event is scheduled at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. GenForum leads into PennWell’s POWER-GEN/Natural Gas conference, scheduled for Aug. 18-to-20 at the same convention center.

Southwestern Energy is currently the fourth largest producer of natural gas in the “lower 48” states, according to the company website.

Tramuto will deliver a presentation based around the theme ‘Natural gas pipelines coming to a gas plant near you.” There is much discussion on whether there will be sufficient pipeline infrastructure to serve the electric grid’s increased reliance on natural gas.

Tramuto joined Southwestern Energy in 2009 and has more than 40 years of experience in energy and governmental relations. Previously he served as vice president of federal government relations for PG&E Corp. in Washington, D.C., and as vice president of external affairs for PG&E’s National Energy Group.

Prior to joining PG&E, Tramuto was president of TECO Gas Marketing and president and CEO of Polaris Pipeline. He also held a number of executive, legal and governmental affairs positions at United Gas Pipeline Company.

Currently, Tramuto is involved with America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) serving as chairman of the State Affairs Committee and with the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA) serving on a number of committees.  He also serves on the board of directors of Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and is a member of the IOGCC.

Tramuto earned a juris doctorate from South Texas College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in management from Texas A&M University. He has also attended the Executive Development Program at the Harvard Business School.

Tramuto will join a lineup that includes ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI) Vice President Natural Gas Practice Leonard Crook; Commissioner Asim Haque of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO); American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Timothy Light; Exelon (NYSE:EXC) Vice President – Operations and Support Vicky Will; and Sunflower Electric Power Senior Vice President and COO Kyle Nelson; as well as Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Executive Director of External Affairs Michelle Bloodworth.

GenForum will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will analyze the growing reliance on natural gas power plants in the domestic generation mix. The program will also look at the reasons behind the rise of natural gas in the power system and its impact.

POWER-GEN/Natural Gas begins shortly after the conclusion of GenForum.
