ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI) Vice President Natural Gas Practice Leonard Crook will kick-off the one-day GenForum/POWER-GEN event Aug. 18 on natural gas generation in Columbus, Ohio.
Crook will offer an overview of the recent rise of natural gas-fueled power generation over the years at the expense of coal-fired power plants.
GenForum is organized by PennWell’s GenerationHub. The event is scheduled at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. GenForum leads into PennWell’s POWER-GEN/Natural Gas conference, scheduled for Aug. 18-to-20 at the same convention center.
Crook has over 30 years’ experience in North American and international natural gas markets. Prior to joining ICF, he served at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for 10 years, where he was a member of the FERC team that prepared the President’s Decision on the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation System.
Crook’s practice at ICF has focused on the economics of gas supply, pipelines, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and gas markets, with a focus on gas supply for power generation in North America, Africa, and India.
In North America, he has advised distribution companies, independent power producers and electric utilities on gas supply strategies, and has served as lenders’ gas expert on over $4bn in project financed power and natural gas facilities in the United States. In this work he has reviewed scores of gas supply and pipeline contracts for power generators.
He has led ICF’s support for the Department of Energy (DOE) office that ensures resilience of power, gas, and petroleum infrastructure and assessed the vulnerability of energy infrastructure to sea level rise.
Crook has a master’s degree in history and a bachelor’s degree in economics and history from the University of Memphis.
