Southern files interconnect deal for 101-MW NextEra solar project

Southern Company Services, on behalf of the utility subsidiaries of parent Southern Co. (NYSE: SO), filed on April 7 with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an executed Large Generator Interconnection Agreement dated March 24 with White Pine Solar LLC for a 101-MW solar project.

On Jan. 28, 2014, White Pine Solar submitted an interconnection request to Southern to interconnect a solar photovoltaic (PV), inverter-based generator array. This facility is to be located in Taylor County, Ga., with a nominal net capacity of 101 MW at the Point of Interconnection. The Point of Interconnection will be where the generator tie line terminates on the bus of the IC-333 Interconnecting Substation.

The targeted commercial operation date under the LGIA is Dec. 13, 2016.
