Lumberton Solar 2 LLC applied April 14 at the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar facility to be located in Robeson County, N.C.
The $10-million facility will be located on the west side of Snake Road, on the south side of NC 41, and east of Harrill Road in Lumberton, N.C. The facility is projected to come online in or before September 2015. Electricity generated by the facility will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement, the application said. The service life of the equipment is expected to be a minimum of 25 years. The projected annual sales of the facility are 10,546,396 kWh.
