The Alliant Energy (NYSE:LNT) Iowa utility, Interstate Power and Light (IPL), has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for up to 200 MW of in-state wind energy.
The RFP is being managed by Alliant Energy Corporate Services. Interested parties should review the RFP, including the mutual non-disclosure agreement (NDA) at the website listed below.
A completed notification of intent to respond form and an executed NDA must be submitted electronically by May 6 to brentkitchen@alliantenergy.com.
Proposals are due by May 20, 2015. The RFP itself is available at: http://www.alliantenergy.com/ipl2015windrfp.
The company will accept proposals for an initial contract term of 10 years and will consider proposals with optional longer durations, according to the RFP. The company prefers proposals that comment delivery by Jan. 1, 2017.
This entire resource does not necessarily have to be met by the output of a single resource or a single site. An individual resource should be at least 25 MW and no more than 200 MW.
Proposals will be evaluated in comparison to market alternatives based on a “reasonable price” assessment, considering primarily the cost impact to IPL’s customers, with consideration given to local congestion and loss costs.
IPL is a member of the Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO), and is a member of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO).
Alliant utility Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL) has announced plans to build a 650-MW combined-cycle natural gas power plant at the company’s Riverside Energy Center near Beloit, Wis.
